The responsibilities of the team include this website, the European Pirates social media outings and press releases. The team is led by Bart, followed by the team-lead deputy Kalpana. The members of the team have their own specialties and exert them for the betterment of the Pirate movement.
Bart Overkamp – Team Leader
Bart Overkamp has been active online as a persona since 2020, publishing independent writing under his own name. He became a producer of videos in 2021 and is a storyteller (on stage) since 2022.
Previous professional experience includes the formation of an NGO focused on workplace opportunities and being part of the Humanistic Collective Utrecht i.o. board.
Nookala Kalpana – Press Officer
Kalpana Vogeti is a published author and experienced content writer with a proven track record of delivering clear, engaging, and audience-focused communications. Having worked across diverse industries in fast-paced environments, she specializes in translating complex ideas into accessible content, strengthening communication channels, and managing public relations. As Press Officer and Deputy Team Lead for the Communications Team of European Pirates, she leverages her expertise to transform policy matters into compelling narratives and ensure the Pirates’ message reaches audiences with clarity and impact.

Suzanne Latre – Editorial Contributor
Suzanne is editor in Chief of Le Parisien Matin and has worked for several political outlets such as World at Large. She has a degree in Law and a MA in Conflict Resolution and has worked relentlessly to promote human rights and transparency at organisations such as The Citizens’ Court of the World where she worked on an Ecocide Tribunal and the World Forum where she handled multiple panels.
Belen Luna – Editorial Contributor
Belén is a global advocate specialising in digital governance, gender justice, and tech accountability. She has led regional advocacy campaigns and coalition-building efforts across Europe and Latin America, working on digital rights and women’s rights. Originally from Bolivia, she has lived and worked across Latin America and Europe, navigating complex institutional landscapes while remaining deeply committed to equality, accountability, and systemic change.

Tessa Altenbrandt – Social Media Manager
Tessa has recently joined the European Pirates Communications Team. She is currently a student of political science with a passion for political communication and expertise in the fields of digital and work policy. Born in Germany, she has worked for different German political institutions until making the switch to the EU level.
This hard-working team is maintaining a lively online presence for the European Pirates and is part of the global political dialogue.
