The responsibilities of the team include this website, the European Pirates social media outings and press releases. The team is led by Bart, followed by the team-lead deputy Kalpana. The members of the team have their own specialties and exert them for the betterment of the Pirate movement.
Bart Overkamp – Team Leader
Bart Overkamp has been active online as a persona since 2020, publishing independent writing under his own name. He became a producer of videos in 2021 and is a storyteller (on stage) since 2022.
Previous professional experience includes the formation of an NGO focused on workplace opportunities and being part of the Humanistic Collective Utrecht i.o. board.
Nookala Kalpana – Press Officer
Kalpana is an experienced content writer with a background in both freelance and full-time roles. Her work has involved writing articles and blog posts, and curating website content, in close collaboration with clients to ensure the tone aligns with their brand identity and objectives. Research and fact-checking are integral to her process, as she believes accuracy is paramount before presenting content to the intended audience.
Before stepping into a professional writing setup, Kalpana had been blogging since 2016, covering a diverse range of topics. She is also a published author with three books to her name.
A homemaker, a mother, and a people person at heart, she firmly believes in the power of words and meaningful communication.

Suzanne Latre
Suzanne is editor in Chief of Le Parisien Matin and has worked for several political outlets such as World at Large. She has a degree in Law and a MA in Conflict Resolution and has worked relentlessly to promote human rights and transparency at organisations such as The Citizens’ Court of the World where she worked on an Ecocide Tribunal and the World Forum where she handled multiple panels.
Sareena Bilal – Writing internship
As she came in, Sareena is now learning what it means to pirate. Properly. As the youngest addition to the team there are obvious things to avoid. Like applying for the team assistant position.
Belen Luna – Editorial Contributor
Fresh on the team as well, Belen is an enthusiastic member and participant in the team channel. We look forward to her writing long-form as well!
